Women's Lacrosse wins 19-5 over Farmingdale State in Florida

CLEARWATER, FLA. – RIT senior Baylee West scored a career-high five goals in the Tigers 19-5 win over Farmingdale State, Monday in Florida.
 
Frist-year attack Zoe Heffernan scored four goals and an assist, and senior Kayleigh Ground, junior Carrissa Hlywa and first-year Milena Stephen each scored two goals.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Farmingdale scored early in the first quarter to take a 1-0 lead.
  • RIT ran off four straight goals, including two from Heffernan to lead 4-1 after the first quarter.
  • West scored three of the Tigers six second-quarter goals, while Ground had two goals and an assist in the quarter.
  • Farmingdale's Molly Espey scored her second goal of the game late in the first half, while Stephen scored with eight seconds to play to give the Tigers a 12-2 halftime lead.
  • Farmingdale scored three times in the third quarter, while West, first-year Jenna Bovenzi, senior Julia Tenney and Stephen all scored for RIT in the quarter.
  • West, Heffernan and first-year Kate Trojan each tallied for the Tigers in the fourth quarter to make it a 19-5 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT outshot Farmingdale State, 44-11
  • RIT won the ground ball battle, 22-18 and was 14-of-17 on clearing attempts.
  • The Tigers won 21-of-25 draw controls.
  • Graduate student goalie Michelle Messenger made four saves to earn the win for RIT.
