Women's Hockey wins 4-1 at Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – RIT junior forward Athena Vasdani tallied a goal and an assist in the Tigers 4-1 win at Syracuse, Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Syracuse's Kate Holmes scored a power play goal at 17:48 of the first period to give the Orange the lead.
  • Senior forward Chloe McNeil tied the game on her goal at 4:24 of the second period. She slid a loose puck under the pads of Syracuse goalie, Allie Kelley.
  • Junior forward Kylie Aquaro scored a power play goal at 16:58 of the second, scoring on a wrist shot from the face-off dot past a screened Kelley to give the Tigers the lead.
  • Vasdani scored an empty-net goal at 18:07 of the third, and senior captain Lindsay Maloney tallied an empty-netter at 19:23 to make it a 4-1 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Syracuse outshot RIT, 33-29
  • RIT junior goalie Sophia Bellina made 15 of her 32 saves in the third period to earn her sixth win of the season
  • Junior forward Jordyn Bear, senior forward Emma Roland, first-year forward Addie Alvarez and sophomore forward Lexi Sung each had assists
  • The Tigers went 1-for-4 on the power play
