ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The RIT women's soccer team defeated Ithaca, 4-2 in the Liberty League Tournament Semifinals, Friday.
Trailing, 1-0, at halftime, the Tigers scored three goals in a 10-minute span of the second half to en route to the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ithaca opened the scoring in the 35th minute on a goal by Rosie Bostian
- RIT tied the game in the 58th minute after junior midfielder Olivia Harris snuck a shot by the Ithaca goalkeeper and two defenders off an assist by sophomore defender Roberta Moger.
- Sophomore forward Elena Onodera scored on a breakaway opportunity in the 68th minute and gave the Tigers the lead.
- In the 76th minute, junior defender Rachel Marriott found the back of the net from inside the box off of an assist from senior midfielder Jessie Gomez.
- Moments later, senior midfielder Abby Umbenhaur sent a shot past the Ithaca goalkeeper in the 77th minute.
- Ithaca scored their second goal in 80th minute.
GAME NOTES
- Onodera scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season.
- RIT out-shot Ithaca, 14-6, including 10 shots on goal
- The Tigers advance to their first Liberty League championship game since 2018.
WHAT'S NEXT
Second-seeded RIT travels to top-seeded William Smith on Sunday (Nov. 5) for an 11:00 a.m. kickoff. The winner earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
