Women's Hockey wins 7-3 at Robert Morris

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RIT senior forward Emma Roland scored a career-high two goals and three assists in the Tigers 7-3 win at Robert Morris, Friday. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sophomore goalie Sophia Bellina made seven saves and the Tigers blocked seven shots in a scoreless first period.
  • First-year defensewoman Emma Pickering blocked three shots in the opening frame, while senior forward Nicole Ness blocked two shots and fired two shots on net.
  • First-year forward Addie Alvarez scored off an assist from Roland 1:12 into the second period to give the Tigers the lead.
  • Mya Nugent tied the game at 1-1 on her goal 42 seconds later.
  • Roland tallied a power play goal from Pickering and senior captain Lindsay Maloney at 7:39 to give RIT a 2-1 lead.
  • Junior forward Jordyn Bear gave the Tigers a two-goal lead on her power play at 12:12 and junior forward Athena Vasdani made it 4-1 on her goal 31 seconds after Bear's tally.
  • Junior forward Kylie Aquaro scored the Tigers' third power play goal of the period at 15:58 of the second period to give RIT a 5-1 lead.
  • Robert Morris' Thalia D'Elia tallied a power play goal 4:47 into the third period to make it a three-goal deficit.
  • Calli Arnold scored for the Colonials at 13:04 to cut the RIT lead to 5-3.
  • Sophomore forward Jaidan Fahrny scored off an assist from Roland at 17:06, and Roland scored her second goal of the game at 19:48 to make it a 7-3 final.

  • RIT's five second-period goals is the most scored in a period this season
  • Friday's win was the first over Robert Morris since January 10, 2020
  • RIT outshot Robert Morris, 38-35 including 21 shots in the second period
