GENEVA, N.Y. – RIT lost, 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-21) in Liberty League women's volleyball, Wednesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Herons jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the first set before scoring six of the next eight points to build an 18-6 lead. The Tigers scored six-consecutive points, including three-straight service aces by senior setter Sydney Neff, to kick off an 8-2 surge and pull within six, 20-14, but William Smith scored five of the final seven points to take the opener.
- RIT broke an early 4-4 tie with a 6-3 run for a 10-7 lead, before the Herons answered with a 4-0 run for an 11-10 lead. Neither team led by more than one point until William Smith scored the final three points to escape with the two-point win.
- RIT broke a 4-4 tie to start the third set with a 7-2 run for an 11-6 lead, but William Smith tied the score, 11-11, with five-straight points. The Tigers put together a 6-2 run for a 17-13 lead, but the Herons used an 11-1 run to force match point, 24-18, en route to the sweep.
MATCH NOTES
- Neff finished with 17 assists, six digs and four service aces.
- Fifth-year Emelia Mislan and senior Hailey Blixt each totaled six kills while Blixt also had five digs.
- First-year defensive specialist Jenell Hall led the Tigers with eight digs.

RIT hosts five matches this Friday and Saturday (Oct. 27-28), taking on Rochester on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and Oneonta at 7:00 p.m. before facing Liberty League-rival Skidmore on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
