ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's volleyball team fell, 3-0 (27-25, 25-8, 25-18) to Liberty League foe Ithaca to open the first day of the Brick City Invitational, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RIT broke a 3-3, first-set tie with a 5-0 run and later scored three-consecutive points to push its lead to 13-7. The Bombers pulled within one with a 6-1 run and later tied the match, 16-16, but the Tigers retook a 20-18 lead with a 4-2 push. Ithaca scored four of the next five points for a 22-21 lead, and later had set point, 24-22, but the Tigers won the next two points to knot the score, 24-24. After trading two points, the Bombers notched the final two points to pull out the win.
- Ithaca opened a 13-2 lead in the second, before the Tigers used a 3-1 run to make it a 14-5 deficit. Ithaca scored the next six points for a 20-5 lead and later scored the final four points of the set.
- RIT opened a 7-4 lead in the third and later led 12-8. Ithaca rebounded with an 8-2 run for a 16-14 edge and later scored eight of the final 10 points to close the match.
