Women's Rowing starts year at Cayuga Sprints

ITHACA, N.Y. - RIT junior rowers Natalie Siwek and Michelle Carney finished 10th out of 25 boats and sixth in their class at the Cayuga Small Boat Sprints hosted by Ithaca, Sunday. 

The duo finished their 2K time trial in 8:23.0 and their 1K sprint in 4:07.8 for a combined time of 16.38.5.

RIT's B and C boats finished 18th and 19th overall and 10th and 11th in their class. The B team of junior Veronica Washco and  sophomore Jenna Olivieri finished with a combined time of 17.36.9, while the C team of senior Rebecca Harris and sophomore Alanna Socha finished in a combined 18:07.5. The D team of junior Evelyn Andersen and sophomore Mikaela Simpkinson finished 24th overall with a combined time of 18:48.9.

A boat from Division I Massachusetts won the event with a combined time of 15:05.9.

The Tigers will return to their boats for the Head of the Genesee on Saturday, Oct. 8.
