Women’s Lacrosse loses 18-5 at RPI

TROY, N.Y. – The RIT (4-6, 2-3 Liberty League) women's lacrosse team lost 18-5 at RPI (6-2, 2-1 Liberty League), Saturday.


HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Senior McKenna Joint gave RIT a 1-0 lead on her goal 1:57 into the game.
  • Joint's second goal with 8:45 to play in the quarter cut the RPI lead to 3-2.
  • Freshman Ella Doan scored with 1:47 remaining to make the score 4-3.
  • RPI's Megan Shay gave the Engineers a 5-3 lead on her third goal of the quarter late in the quarter.
  • Sabrina Torcellini scored two of RPI's four second-quarter goals to give the Engineers a 9-3 halftime lead.
  • RIT was outscored 9-2 in the second half.
  • Seniors Colette Rigas and Aldyn Savage each scored for the Tigers in the third quarter.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT fired 12 shots, including 11 on target.
  • The Tigers grabbed eight ground balls and finished 8-of-21 on clearing attempts.
  • Torcellini led RPI with four goals and six points.
