Baseball falls to Brockport, 8-5

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The RIT baseball team lost 8-5 at Brockport in non-league action, Tuesday.

 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first after senior third baseman Patrick Blackall's single scored sophomore right fielder John Bagley, followed by senior left fielder Chris Reilly's sacrifice fly that brought home senior first baseman Ian Libby.
  • Brockport tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the first due to a pair of pitching miscues with the Golden Eagles' first run coming after a Brockport batter was hit by a pitch with bases loaded followed by a run coming from a wild pitch.
  • In the top of the fifth, RIT went ahead 4-2 after a Bagley single scored freshman centerfielder Sam Kulp and then Reilly brought home Bagley with an RBI-single.
  • In the bottom of the fifth, Brockport took a 7-4 lead after scoring five runs, highlighted by a two-run home run by Zach Eldred.
  • RIT got a single run in the sixth after a solo home run by Kulp.
  • Brockport restored its three-run lead at 8-5 after James Houlahan's sacrifice fly scored Matt O'Dair.
