Women's Lacrosse loses 13-7 to No. 22 Geneseo in home opener

ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Colette Rigas and junior Baylee West each scored two goals in RIT's (1-1) 13-7 loss to No. 22 Geneseo (1-0), Wednesday.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • West and Rigas gave RIT a 2-1 lead on their goals early in the first quarter.
  • Geneseo ran off four straight goals to end the quarter leading 5-2.
  • The Knights outscored RIT 4-0 in the second quarter and led 9-2 at halftime.
  • Geneseo's Madelynn Brown and Megan Henderson each scored early in the third quarter to extend the Geneseo lead to 11-2.
  • Freshman Hannah Raffert scored her first collegiate goal midway through the third quarter to cut the Geneseo lead to 11-3.
  • Rigas scored with 2:26 to play and West scored with 26 seconds remaining in the quarter to cut the Knights lead to 11-5.
  • Senior Aldyn Savage cut the Geneseo lead to 12-6 on her goal off an assist from senior Krystyna Sterio with 10:19 remaining in the fourth quarter, and Sterio scored with 7:20 to play to make it a 13-7 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Shots were 36-24 in favor of Geneseo, while ground balls were 31-15 in favor of the Knights
  • RIT won 15-of-23 draw controls and went 20-of-27 on clearing attempts
  • Freshman Linda Nutter made seven saves in net for RIT, while Emily DeJohn made seven stops in net for the Knights
  • Henderson, Molly Brown, Hannah Marafioti and Madelynn Brown each scored three goals for Geneseo
