ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior
Dan Willett was named the Atlantic Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, Monday. It was the second time he's landed the award this season.
Willett helped RIT to a 1-1-1 week, notching what proved to be the game-winning goal along with seven blocked shots during last Tuesday's 5-1 victory over Sacred Heart.
He also logged two assists and blocked two shots in Saturday's 4-4 tie (SO W) over AIC after setting the RIT D1-era record for games played the night before. He enters the week with 156 games played, sitting two shy of the Atlantic Hockey all-time record.
Willett ranks third in the nation and first in Atlantic Hockey with 70 blocked shots and also leads all Atlantic Hockey players with 72 career assists.
RIT (13-11-4, 9-7-4 AHA) is currently third in the Atlantic Hockey standings with three weeks of the regular season remaining. The Tigers are scheduled to play Mercyhurst this Friday and Saturday (Feb. 11-12) at 7:05 p.m. both nights.
