Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Women’s Hockey falls in OT to Syracuse in CHA Tournament semifinals, 3-2

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – RIT freshman goaltender Sarah Coe finished with 49 saves including six in overtime, but it was Syracuse advancing to the CHA Tournament Championship with a 3-2 win, Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Syracuse got on the board first 32 seconds into the contest after a shot from the right point deflected off a Tiger defender in the crease with a pair of Orange players having a chance at the loose puck and Syracuse forward Abby Moloughey finding the handle on the puck first.
  • RIT tied the game at 1-1 for the lone goal of the second period 12:22 into the middle frame when senior forward Abby Davies battled for a loose puck with an Orange defender in front of the net after a shot from freshman defender Kyla Bear for a power-play goal. The play developed deep on the right side from freshman forward Kylie Aquaro, who sent the puck to sophomore forward Emma Roland at the right point. Roland sent the puck to Bear on the left point, whose shot generated the scoring play.
  • The Tigers took a 2-1 lead 2:16 into the third period after Bear's shot from the top of the left circle deflected off a Syracuse player in front of the net for an unassisted tally on the power play. Senior forward Jordan Marchese threw the puck along the right wall from behind the net to freshman forward Athena Vasdani, who slid the puck from the top of the right point to Bear.
  • Syracuse tied the game at 2-2 with 6:33 gone in the third after an Orange attacker intercepted a clearing pass on the right side and walked in alone on Coe, shooting to the glove side.
  • After killing two penalties in overtime, Syracuse got the game winner on an unassisted tally from Abby Moloughey with 6:12 left in the first sudden death period, netting her third of the contest.
