ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Six RIT student-athletes were honored by the Liberty League with Player of the Week recognition, announced Monday.
On the women's side, Freshman Ann Peshenko was named Liberty League Female Swimmer of the Week.
On the men's side, freshman
Gellert Kish was named Liberty League Diver of the Week. Junior
Luke Pilcher was named Liberty Leaue Men's Lacrosse Offensive Performer of the Week, senior
Drew Hutchison earned Defensive Performer of the Week honors and freshman
Clifford Gaston was named Rookie of the Week. Junior
Tyler Hulse was named Liberty League Male Field Performer of the Week.
Peshenko won three individual titles at the Liberty League Championship. Peshenko posted a time of 4:32.20 in the 400 IM finals to win her first Liberty League title. Friday, Peshenko won her second Liberty League title, swimming 1:04.96 to win the 100 breaststroke, and swam 2:20.58 in the 200 breaststroke finals to win her third individual title of the championship.
Kish was named Diver of the Meet at the Liberty League Championship, winning the 1-meter and 3-meter diving championships last weekend. Friday, won the 1-meter competition, posting a score of 502.40 in the finals. He won the 3-meter title with a score of 529.20 on Wednesday.
Hulse finished second in the high jump with a PR 2.04m/6' 8.25" at the Nazareth Conference Tune-Up meet, Friday. His mark ranks first in the Liberty League this winter and is tied for 13th in the nation.
Pilcher scored a career-high five goals and six points to help lead No. 1 RIT to a season-opening 19-9 win over Muhlenberg, Sunday. He tallied five goals on seven shots, including a man-up goal. Pilcher scored a goal in the first quarter, one in the second and tallied three of the Tigers five third-quarter goals.
Hutchison made eight saves in net to help No. 1 RIT to a season-opening 19-9 win over Muhlenberg, Sunday. The senior goalie made three saves in the first quarter, four in the second, two in the third and three in limited action in the fourth quarter.
Gaston tallied a goal and an assist in his first collegiate game to help No. 1 RIT to a season-opening 19-9 win over Muhlenberg, Sunday. He assisted on
Luke Pilcher's man-up goal to earn his first collegiate points and scored his first college goal late in the second quarter. He fires four shots, three on target and had a ground ball.
