ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore forward
Carter Wilkie was voted the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week, while senior
Gianfranco Cassaro was named the Defensive Player of the Week and sophomore
Tommy Scarfone was tabbed the Goaltender of the Week, Monday.
The trio was honored for their efforts during the Tigers' two-game sweep of visiting Sacred Heart last week to move into sole possession of first place in the Atlantic Hockey standings.
Wilkie landed his first weekly honor after totaling a team-high five points during the series. He notched a goal and an assist while winning 6-of-10 face-offs in Friday's 3-1 victory before logging a goal and two assists along with 13-of-20 face-off wins in Saturday's 3-1 victory.
Cassaro was honored with his second weekly award of the season after scoring a pair of power-play goals, including what proved to be the game-winner, and blocking a shot in Saturday's victory after notching an assist on Friday.
Scarfone improved to 9-1-0 after combining to stop 58 of 60 shots he faced last week en route to his second weekly honor this season. He stopped 37 shots - including a single-period career-high 21 in the third quarter - to preserve Friday's victory before totaling 19 saves on Saturday.
