Women's Hockey beats Saint Michael's, 8-0, in home opener

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT junior forward Lindsay Maloney scored a career-high two goals to lead the Tigers to an 8-0 win against Saint Michael's, Friday.
 
Sophomore forward Athena Vasdani and first-year forward Lexi Sung each had two assists, while first-year defesnewoman Karly Kolssak and first-year forward Ella Fesette and sophomore defensewoman Jessie Burks each scored their first collegiate goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Junior forward Emma Roland scored at 6:11 of the first period on a wrist-shot from the slot to give the Tigers the lead.
  • Junior forward Chloe McNeil notched her third goal of the season at 7:35 of the first off a rebound on a shot from sophomore defensewoman Jessie Burks.
  • Maloney tallied a short-handed goal at 16:56 of the period to extend the Tigers lead to 3-0.
  • Fesette scored her first collegiate goal at 10:53 of the second period to extend the Tigers lead to 4-0.
  • Kolssak scored her first of the season at 7:25 of the third period off assists from Fesette and Sung.
  • Maloney scored her second of the game at 8:43 of the third, while senior forward Hana Solinger scored at 10:18.
  • Senior forward Jaymee Nolan scored at 10:18 of the third period to give the Tigers an 8-0 lead.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT outshot Saint Michael's 57-7
  • The Tigers eight goals is the most goals scored in a game since RIT tallied seven against Syracuse in 2019.
  • RIT's 57 shots is the most for the Tigers since RIT fired 63 shots in an 8-0 win at Sacred Heart in 2013.
  • Sophomore goalie Sarah Coe made seven saves in net to earn her first shutout of the season and fourth of her career.
