ITHACA, N.Y. - Sophomore forward
Kevin Ryan was one of five Tigers to score in double-figures, finishing with 16 points, in RIT's (4-7, 2-3 Liberty League) 98-94 loss at Ithaca Tuesday. RIT trailed by 15 points in the second half, but rallied with a 27-16 run, cutting the Ithaca lead to one point.
Junior guard
Keegan Ocorr scored 15 points and added five assists, while senior
Curtis Nesbit scored 12 points. Graduate student
Chase Lewis came off the bench to score 13 points, while freshman
Kris Laing tallied 10 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ryan gave RIT an early four-point lead on his bucket three minutes into the game.
- Ithaca's Jack Stern gave the Bombers their first lead on his bucket at the 14:52 mark of the half.
- Lewis converted a pair of free throws with 10:25 to play that gave the Tigers a 19-18 lead.
- Alex Barron capped off an 8-0 Bombers spurt with his basket with 9:06 to play that gave Ithaca a 25-19 lead.
- Andrew Geschickter extended the Ithaca lead to 10-points on his three-pointer with 3:15 to play.
- Laing hit a three-pointer with :50 seconds to play in the half to cut the Ithaca lead to four points.
- Triston Wennersten scored with :29 seconds to play to give Ithaca a 46-40 halftime lead.
- Wennersten drained a three-pointer with 7:08 remaining in the second half to give Ithaca an 82-67 lead.
- RIT responded with a 27-16 run over a 7:24 span, including an 11-0 run.
- Nesbit nailed a three-pointer with :50 seconds to play to cut the Ithaca lead to 91-93.
- Skylar Sinon scored on Ithaca's next possession to make the score 95-91.
- Freshman Chase Dickens drained a three-pointer with :12 remaining to cut the Bomber's lead to 95-94.
- Nesbit had a three-pointer rattle out in the closing seconds, and Ithaca made its free throws to make it a 98-04 final.
GAME NOTES
- RIT shot 39-of-63 from the floor, including 7-of-18 from beyond the arc.
- Ryan and Ocorr each shot 7-of-10 from the floor.
- Ocorr and freshman Brock Bowen each had five assists, while Nesbit was 2-of-3 from three-point range.
- Wennersten led Ithaca with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
