Women's soccer loses 2-0 to No. 7 William Smith

ROCHESTER, NY – RIT (4-2, 0-1 Liberty League) graduate student Alyssa Salls (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh) made eight second-half saves in a 2-0 loss to No. 7 William Smith (5-1-1, 1-0-0 Liberty League) in the Liberty League opener for both teams Wednesday.
 
How it Happened
  • RIT junior forward Christine Cataldo-Smith (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) had a chance in the 12th minute when she got behind the Herons defense. Her shot was deflected away by a William Smith defender.
  • William Smith's Amanda Adams scored in the 31st minute off an assist from Merilyn Hinrichs to give the Herons a 1-0 lead.
  • Seneca Blakely-Armitage scored in the 61st minute off an assist from Amanda Adams to give William Smith a 2-0 lead.

  • William Smith out-shot RIT 26-9
  • Junior Darcie Jones (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson West Lawn) made one saves in the first half, taking the loss in net for RIT.
  • Amanda Kesler made two saves for William Smith, earning the win.
