Women's Volleyball defeats host Western Connecticut, St. Joe's (LI)

DANBURY, Conn. – The RIT women's volleyball team swept a pair of road matches hosted by Western Connecticut, Saturday afternoon. The Tigers opened the day with a 3-1 victory over the host Colonials before earning a 3-0 sweep over St. Joseph's (Long Island).
 
MATCH 1
RIT 3, Western Conn. 1 (23-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-20)
RIT senior outside hitter Katie Hobler (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) totaled a match-high 17 kills to go along with 11 digs while senior outside hitter Taylor Higgins (Peru, NY/Peru) added 16 kills to lead the Tiger attack.
 
RIT freshman setter Sydney Neff (Delmar, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) totaled a career-high 48 assists along with seven digs while senior libero Kiana Walker (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Comprehensive) logged 20 digs and sophomore defensive specialist Jessica Klein (PIttsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel Area) was credited with 13 digs.
 
MATCH 2
RIT 3, St. Joseph's – Long Island 0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-9)
Hobler logged a match-high 15 kills while Higgins compiled 10 kills and seven digs in the win.

Freshman middle blocker Samantha Cox (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) added 10 kills on a .643 hitting percentage while Walker picked up a match-high 17 digs. 
 
WHAT'S NEXT
RIT returns to action with three matches at the Woodcliff Hall of Fame Classic, hosted by Nazareth. The Tigers will face Fredonia on Friday (Sept. 17) at 3:00 p.m. before taking on Juniata (1:00 p.m.) and Morrisville (3:00 p.m.) on Saturday (Sept. 18).
