BROCKPORT, NY – RIT (1-0) junior defender
Randy Dickersbach (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) tallied two goals as the visiting Tigers came back to beat Brockport (0-1) 4-1 in the season opener, Wednesday evening.
How It Happened
- Dickersbach redirected a shot into the lower right corner that deflected off a Brockport defender, tying the score at 1-1. Jaden Longdon (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg) and Zac Salas (Durham, NC/Cross Roads Flex School) had assists on the goal.
- Junior midfielder Jonathan Cohen (Newton, MA/Newton North) converted a penalty kick :24 into the second half to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
- Dickersbach tallied his second goal off an assist from Devansh Mishra (North Potomac, MD/Thomas S. Wootton) in the 61st minute to extend RIT's lead to 3-1.
- Freshman midfielder David Merriman (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel Area) deflected a shot off of Brockport keeper Andre Taylor for his first collegiate goal in the 79th minute that gave RIT a 4-1 lead.
Game Notes
- RIT fired 10 shots, including six on target. The Tigers took three corner kicks to six for the Golden Eagles.
- Brockport's Matthew Stefaniw scored gave the Golden Eagle's an early lead on his goal in the 16th minute.
- RIT senior goalkeeper Guarav Cheema picked up his first win as a Tiger, making four saves, while Taylor took the loss for Brockport, making two saves.
- The win is the third straight for the Tigers over Brockport.
