Dawson Tait (Ottawa, Ontario/Mother Teresa) scored three goals to lead the top-ranked Tigers in a 12-10 comeback victory at No. 11 Union, in Liberty League men's lacrosse action, Saturday afternoon.
Trailing, 8-5, with under six minutes left in the third quarter, senior
Matt Wiechers (Waterloo, Ontario/The Kiski School) scored with 5:13 on the clock to kick off a 6-0 Tiger run into the fourth quarter. Senior face-off specialist
Nick Montemorano (Victor, NY/Victor) gave the Tigers an 11-8 lead with 4:11 left in regulation with what proved to be the game-winner.
Shots were 42-35 in favor of RIT while the Tigers held a 30-28 ground ball advantage. The Tigers won 12-of-25 face-offs, went 3-for-7 on man-up and cleared the ball on 18-of-19 attempts.

Quinn Commandant (Rockwood, Ontario/The Kiski School) tallied three points on a goal and two assists while Wiechers and junior
Ryan Rosenblum (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) each scored two goals. Senior
Walker Hare (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) was credited with nine saves while senior long-stick midfielder
Taylor Jensen (New Westminster, British Columbia/New Westminster) led the Tigers with four ground balls.
Heyden Frey led Union with four goals and six points. Peter Burns tallied two goals and two assists, while Dan Donahue took the loss in net for the Dutchmen, making 15 saves.
RIT led 3-2 after the first quarter on goals from
Spencer Bell (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and Tait, who scored twice in the quarter. The Dutchmen came back in the second quarter, scoring three straight goals, taking a 5-3 lead on Frey's second straight goal of the quarter. Commandant and Wiechers each scored late in the half to knot the score at 5-5 at the break.
Union scored the first three goals of the third quarter, taking an 8-5 lead on Aidan Flood's goal midway through the quarter. Wiechers and
Marley Angus (Oakville, Ontario/Holy Trinity) each scored, as RIT cut the Dutchmen lead to 8-7 on Angus' goal with 2:35 remaining in the quarter. RIT kept the momentum heading into the fourth quarter, scoring the first four goals of the fourth quarter.
Zeb Hollinger (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) tied the score at 8-8 on his goal with 8:46 to play. Rosenblum gave the Tigers a 9-8 lead on his goal, while Tait extended the RIT lead to 10-8 on his third of the game off an assist from Commandant. Montemorano won the ensuing face-off and scored with 4:11 to play to give the Tigers an 11-8 lead. Union scored two straight, cutting the RIT lead to 11-10 on a Brian Davis goal with 3:21 remaining. Rosenblum put the game away with his goal with 1:29 to play in regulation.
