MORRISVILLE, NY -- Junior
Olivia Africa (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) scored five goals, and senior
Alanna Fallone (Penfield, NY/Penfield) tallied four goals as the RIT (2-0) women's lacrosse team defeated SUNY Morrisville (0-1) 19-4 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.
Shots were 34-7 in favor of RIT, while the Tigers won the ground ball battle 22-9. RIT won 19-of-24 draw controls, and were 10-of-14 on clearing attempts. Africa led RIT with five goals and six points, while Fallone finished with four goals and five points.
Baylee West (Hummelstown, PA/Hershey) tallied a career-high three goals, and
Skylar Burlee (Churchville, NY/Churhcville-Chili) tallied two goals and an assist. West and Racehl Border each won five draw controls, while Fallone added four. Fallone and junior
McKenna Joint (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) each had five ground balls to pace the Tigers.
Paulina Goodermote (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) got the win in net for the Tigers.
Kadi Denney took the loss in net for Morrisville, and Maddie Baum had a pair of assists.
After Morrisville State took an early lead, the Tigers scored 13 straight goals to end the first half leading 13-1. The Tigers tacked on six second-half goals to make it a 19-4 final.
RIT is scheduled to host Liberty League foe Ithaca College on Friday, March 26, at 4 p.m. from RIT's Tuef Field.
