ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (1-14-0, 1-14-0 CHA) women's hockey team was defeated 5-0 by No. 8 Penn State University (15-1-2, 15-1-2 CHA) on Senior Day from the Gene Polisseni Center Saturday.
Shots were 37-12 in favor of Penn State. RIT took two penalties for four minutes, and the Nittany Lions took one penalty for two minutes. Neither team scored a power play goal.
Maeve Connolly and Amy Dobson each tallied a goal and an assist for Penn State, while Mallory Uihlein tallied three assists. Josie Bothun picked up the win in net for Penn State, making 12 saves. Senior goaltender
Jessi O'Leary (Woodstock, New Brunswick/Notre Dame Hounds) took the loss in net for RIT, making 32 saves.
Penn State scored twice in the first period, two more goals in the second period, and tacked on another goal in the third period to make it a 5-0 final.
RIT returns to action on Tuesday, February 23, at Syracuse University at 6 p.m.
