Ian Andriano (Barrie, Ontario/Ottawa Jr. Senators) made a career-high 39 saves while junior forward
Will Calverley (Scarborough, Ontario) notched a goal and an assist to lead six Tiger goal scorerers in a 6-1 victory over visiting Robert Morris, Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams played a scoreless first period, including 17 saves by Andriano.
- Robert Morris got on the board 59 seconds into the second period after freshman forward Randy Hernandez cleaned up a short rebound inside the left post following a rush off a Tiger turnover.
- Calverley jammed his own rebound inside the right post four minutes later during a Tiger power play to start a string of six-unanswered RIT goals.
- Senior forward Alden Dupuis (Edmonton, Alberta) took a nice up-ice feed from junior forward Jake Joffe (Toronto, Ontario) and scored on a blast from the top of the left face-off circle with with 10:43 on the clock.
- RIT built a 3-1 lead just over a minute later after junior Kobe Walker (Lloydminster, Alberta) stuffed a short-handed goal inside the left post off a Calverley feed to finish a rush with 9:37 left in the period.
- The Tigers took a 4-1 lead with 14:25 left in the third period after freshman defenseman Aidan Hansen-Bukata took a left-wing feed from senior forward Jake Hamacher (Corona, Calif.) in the RMU zone and hit sophomore forward Elijah Gonsalves (Scarborough, Ontario) for a short finish inside the right post.
- Freshman defenseman Diarmad DiMurro (Highland Mills, N.Y.) scored his first collegiate goal on a long shot from the right point with 11:35 on the clock for a 5-1 RIT edge.
- Sophomore forward Caleb Moretz (Fairbanks, Alaska) cleaned up a rebound in front off a blast by senior defenseman Dan Willett (Bayville, N.Y.) from the left point with 10:00 minutes left in regulation to close the scoring.
GAME NOTES
- Hamacher was credited with two assist to move into the team lead with 12 this winter.
- Andriano eclipsed the 33 saves he made in a 4-2 win over visiting Army on Jan. 26, 2019. His 17 first-period saves were the highest single-period total this season, while the 39 stops were also the most by a Tiger goalie this year.
- RIT allowed a season-high 40 shots - the most since host Air Force totaled 44 in a 2-1 Tiger win (Oct. 24, 2019) last season.
- Calverley notched his 60th career point and has totaled 31 goals and 30 assists over the last three seasons.
- RIT notched short-handed, power-play and even-strength goals in a game for the second time this season. Calverley notched all three in the Tigers' 6-4 win over Mercyhurst on Jan. 28.
