Women's Soccer loses 3-0 at William Smith in Liberty League semifinal

GENEVA, NY – The No. 4 RIT (10-5-3) Women's Soccer team lost 3-0 at No. 1 William Smith (15-1-1) in the Liberty League semifinal Saturday. William Smith advances to the Liberty League championship Sunday.
 
How it Happened
  • William Smith's Julia Keogh scored in the 16th minute to give the Herons the lead. Merilyn Hinrichs played a ball through to Keogh and she beat RIT goalie Darcie Jones into the low left corner.
  • RIT graduate student Morgan Monteith had a shot from 18 yards saved  in the 18th minute by Ava Kesler.
  • Rachel Strader fired shot off a Tigers throw-in that Kesler got a glove to and saved.
  • Keogh scored her second of the game in the 37th minute off an assist from Sheila McQuillen that give the Herons a 2-0 lead.
  • McQuillen gave William Smith a 3-0 lead on her goal in the 50th minute.
 
Game Notes
  • William Smith out-shot RIT 12-9.
  • Jones made one save in net for RIT and took the loss. Graduate student Alyssa Salls made three saves in the final 49:31.
  • Amanda Kesler made seven stops in net for the Herons to earn the win.
