Women’s Hockey falls late to St. Thomas, 3-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - RIT freshman goaltender Sarah Coe made 35 saves, but St. Thomas took the contest after netting the game-winner midway through the third period to propel the Tommies to a 3-1 non-conference win, Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT freshman forward Kylie Aquaro scored a power-play goal 15:17 into the opening frame to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead after freshman forward Jordyn Bear's shot from the left circle deflected off the back boards to Aquaro on the right post for a quick redirection into the net. Freshman Bailey Kehl also assisted on the goal.
  • St. Thomas tied the game at 1-1, nine seconds after a Tiger penalty when Tommie defender Maddy Clough followed her initial shot from the right point with a second shot from the high slot that found the back of the net.
  • St. Thomas defender Nicole Vallario got the game winner and put the Tommies ahead 2-1, 11:54 into the third period with a backhand shot after crossing the Tiger goal crease from left to right.
  • Vallario scored with a shot the length of the ice into an empty net with three seconds left in regulation to complete the scoring.
