ITHACA, NY – The RIT (9-3-3, 4-2-2 Liberty League) Women's Soccer team lost 3-2 at Ithaca (12-3, 6-2 Liberty League) in Liberty League action Tuesday. The Tigers drop to third place in the Liberty League standings with 14 points.
How it Happened
- Junior forward Christine Cataldo-Smith scored her team-leading tenth goal in the fifth minute to give the Tigers an early lead. Sophomore Abby Umbenhaur headed a shot that was saved by Ithaca goalie Claire Reader. Cataldo-Smith was there to tap home the rebound.
- Alex Epifani tied the game at 1-1 on her goal in the 37th minute with the assist going to Rosie Bostian.
- Megan O'Reilly gave the Bombers a 2-1 lead on her goal off a scrum in front of the RIT net in the 48th minute.
- Freshman forward Emma Schock tied the game at 2-2 on her goal in the 49th minute, redirecting an Ithaca defensive miscue into the net.
- Kelsey Espenhorst gave Ithaca a 3-2 lead on her header off a free-kick from Megan Buttinger in the 60th minute.
Game Notes
- Ithaca out-shot RIT 15-10.
- Graduate student Alyssa Salls made five saves in net for RIT.
- Reader made six stops in net for the Bombers to earn the win.
