ROCHESTER, NY -- Senior
Dawson Tait (Ottawa, Ontario/Mother Teresa) tallied six goals and eight points to lead the No. 5 RIT (4-0, 1-0 Liberty League) men's lacrosse team to an 18-6 win over Clarkson University (2-1, 0-1 Liberty League) in Liberty League action from RIT's Turf Field Saturday afternoon.
RIT held a 45-35 shot advantage and won the ground ball battle 38-29. The Tigers won 17-of-28 face-offs and cleared the ball 22-of-24 times. RIT went 1-for-3 on man-up and held Clarkson to 1-for-7 with the man advantage.
Tait led RIT with eight points on six goals and two assists.
Spencer Bell (Fairport, NY/Fairport) tallied three goals and five points, while
Quinn Commandant (Rockwood, Ontario/The Kiski School) finished with two goals and two assists.
Damon Currie (Guelph, Ontario/The Hill Academy),
Ryan Barnable (Whitby, Ontario/Donald A. Wilson) and
Ryan Rosenblum (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) each tallied a goal and an assist, while
Pent Eistrat (Toronto, Ontario/Humberside Collegiate),
Conor Bollin (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder),
Jordan Trottier (Ottawa, Ontario/West Carleton) and
Zeb Hollinger (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) each scored a goal.
Walker Hare (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) improved 4-0 in net for RIT, making 11 saves.
Drew Hutchison (Otonabee, Ontario/The Hill Academy) played the fourth quarter, making five saves.
Nick Montemorano (Victor, NY/Victor) won 10-of-18 face-offs and had eight ground balls.
Jimmy Spillane (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) won 7-of-10 draws and grabbed three ground balls.
Alex Maruna (Medina, OH/St. Ignatius) and
Brett Naylor (Clarence, NY/Clarence) each had two ground balls, while Erik Jakosze had three ground balls and a caused turnover.
Conor Bartlett led Clarkson with two goals and an assist. Pierce Curries, Riley Holzman, Billy Bergan and Tanner Cioffi each scored a goal for the Golden Knights, while Kevin Dyckman took the loss in net for Clarkson, making 14 saves.
RIT led 7-0 after the first quarter and 13-0 at halftime. Tait scored four of his six goals in the first quarter, while Commandant tallied two goals and had two assists in the first half. Cioffi broke the RIT run with his goal early in the third quarter. Clarkson scored four times in the third quarter, cutting the RIT lead to 15-4 on Barlett's goal with 2:29 remaining in the period.
