ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has canceled all practices and competitions (traditional and non-traditional) for the spring semester, in accordance with the community's efforts to mitigate the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

In conjunction with the NCAA's decision to suspend all its remaining winter and spring championships indefinitely, the Liberty League also announced no conference regular season or championship events will be conducted for the rest of the academic year. Atlantic Hockey also cancelled its postseason tournament.

"Based on current guidelines outlined by Monroe County health officials, we feel that it is in the best interest of our student-athletes, staff and fans to take these preventative measures," said RIT Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Lou Spiotti. "We recognize how disappointing this will be for everyone associated with our program, but also know they will understand this is the most prudent course of action."

"Pursuant to the decision by the NCAA on Thursday to cancel the remainder of its winter and spring championships due to the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, the Liberty League Presidents have unanimously agreed to cancel all remaining Liberty League regular-season and championship competition effective immediately," said Liberty League Commissioner Tracy King.
