Women's lacrosse wraps up Spring Break with win over Juniata College

CLEARWATER, FL -- The RIT (2-1) women's lacrosse team defeated Juniata College (4-1) 16-3 in non-conference action from Clearwater, Florida Wednesday afternoon.

Shots were 23-11 in favor of RIT. The Tigers held a slight 22-20 ground ball advantage, and won 14-of-21 draw controls. RIT went 12-of-19 on clearing attempts and fired 21 shots on target. Junior attack Olivia Africa (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) led RIT with five points on two goals and three assists. Colette Rigas (Marietta, NY/Marcellus) tallied three goals and four points, while Alanna Fallone (Penfield, NY/Penfield), McKenna Joint (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) and Krystyna Sterio (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) each scored two goals.

Rebekah got the win in net, making four saves in 30 minutes of action. Maddi Dillabaugh led the Tigers with four ground balls and added a goal, while Meghan Donohue, Snitkoff, Riley Grow (Victor, NY/Victor) and Joint each caused two turnovers.

Talia Bertrando led Juniata with two goals. Isabella Medaris took the loss in net, making two saves.

RIT dominated from the opeing whistle, tallying the first 11 goals of the game. Rigas' second goal of the first half gave the Tigers an 11-0 lead. Africa tallied a goal and two assists in the first half, while Fallone scored a pair of goals. Bertrando broke the RIT scoring run with her goal with 4:30 to play in the first half.

Sterio, Steph Darrell (East Norhtport, NY/St. Anthony's), Rigas, Africa and Myranda D'Antico (Townsend, MA/North Middlesex Regional) each scored for the Tigers in the second half.

RIT begins Liberty League play on Sunday, March 15, when the Tigers host No. 16 Ithaca College at 12 p.m. on RIT's Turf Field
