Men's Hockey holds off Niagara, 5-4

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. - Rochester Institute of Technology senior forward Nick Bruce (Fall River, Nova Scotia/Johnstown Tomahawks) notched a goal and two assists while senior defenseman Regan Seiferling (Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan) and junior forward Kobe Walker (Lloydminster, Alberta) were each credited with a goal and an assist to lead the Tigers to a 5-4 victory at Niagara, Tuesday, in Atlantic Hockey Action.
  • Niagara got on the board 51 seconds into the game, but the Tigers (4-2-1, 2-0-1 AHA) scored five of the next six goals to build 5-2 lead with 5:38 left in the second period that proved insurmountable. 
  • Senior goalie Logan Drackett (Calgary, Alberta) totaled 29 saves, including 14 in the first period, to improve to 3-1-1 on the season. He also tied the Division I era program record with his 41st career victory. Jared DeMichiel '10 also compiled 41 victories from 2006-10. 
  • RIT junior forward Will Calverley (Scarborough, Ontario) added three assists to extend his team-leading point total to 13 (6 goals, 7 assists).
  • The teams combined for 17 penalties and 48 PIM.

RIT returns to action next Tuesday (Dec. 29) for a non-league contest at Colgate slated for a 4:05 p.m. face-off.
