ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Hannah Weppner (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) and sophomores Marian Draper (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) and Olivia Spencer (Shortsville, NY/Red Jacket), of the RIT Women's Cross Country team, were each 2019 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country All-Academic selections. They were part of a group of 378 women who were named All-Academic individuals in NCAA Division III.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
Weppner is a chemical engineering major and maintains a 4.0 GPA. She garnered all-region honors with a 14th place finish at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Championship hosted by St. Lawrence, finishing in a time of 22:53.3. Weppner was the Tigers' top finisher at the 2019 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship, placing 90th.
Draper is a ceramics major and maintains a 3.98 GPA. She placed 24th overall at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship, finishing in a time of 23:14.4 to earn all-region honors. Draper helped the Tigers to a 30th place finish at the 2019 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship, placing 162nd overall.
Spencer holds a 3.90 GPA in mechanical engineering. She earned NCAA Atlantic All-Region accolades with a 47th place finish at the regional championship, completing the course in a time of 23:46.4. Spencer placed 243rd at the 2019 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship, helping the Tigers to a 30th place finish.
RIT placed 30th at the 2019 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship with a score of 698 points.
