Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore forward Jake Joffe (Toronto, Ontario/Toronto Jr. Canadiens) scored the lone Tiger goal in a 1-1 draw opposite vising Canisius, Friday night. Joffe later notched the deciding tally during the penalty shootout to clinch an extra point for RIT in the Atlantic Hockey standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT (10-6-3, 7-5-3 AHA) got on the board after junior goalie Logan Drackett (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Canucks) cleared a puck to center ice to Joffe, who skated on the Golden Griffin net to snap a low wrist shot inside the left post with 15:01 on the first-period clock.
  • Canisius (4-12-1, 3-7-1 AHA) evened the score with a power play goal 2:32 into the third period. Senior defenseman Matt Steif sent a pass from the top of the Tiger zone into the right face-off circle where senior forward Matt Hoover wristed a shot inside the near post.
  • The score remained tied the rest of regulation as well as through a five-minute 5-on-5 overtime and a five-minute 3-on-3 overtime, setting up the final penalty shootout. In the third round of shots, Drackett saved a Hoover attempt before Joffe beat Canisius freshman goalie Jacob Barczewski with a low, stick-side shot to close the evening.

GAME NOTES
  • Drackett totaled 21 saves, including 10 in the third period as well as five during the overtime periods. He also made two saves during the penalty shootout at the end of the game.
  • This was RIT's third Atlantic Hockey conference game of the season decided using the conference's new tiebreaking procedures. The Tigers earned a point in a 3-3 tie (shootout loss) opposite visiting Holy Cross (Nov. 2) as well as in a 2-2 tie (2OT loss) with visiting Niagara (Nov. 8)
