ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (2-6-1, 0-2-0 Liberty League) men's soccer team was defeated 1-0 at home by Clarkson University (4-4-1, 1-0-1 Liberty League) in Liberty League action from Tiger Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Shots were 12-7 in favor of Clarkson, while each team took three corner kicks.
Spencer Raymond-Smith (Stow, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) took the loss in net for RIT, making a career-high seven saves. Ian Roeloffs got the win for the Golden Knights, making three saves.
Mack Walton scored the game's only goal in the 10th minute. Stephen Klimek fired a shot that Raymond-Smith saved. The rebound came out to the front of the Tigers' net, and Walton was there to bury the rebound.
RIT had a chance to tie in the 33rd minute when the Tigers were awarded a penalty kick.
Nick Simone (Hilton, NY/Hilton) hit his shot off the cross-bar and over the net.
Raymond-Smith kept RIT in the game in the second half, making three saves, including a great save on a shot from Clarkson's Aidan Subra in the 89th minute.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 5, when the Tigers host Bard College at 1 p.m. on the grass at Tiger Stadium.
