ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's hockey team lost 5-4 in overtime to Concordia University in an exhibition game from the Gene Polisseni Center Sunday afternoon. The Stingers tallied the game-winner 3:26 into overtime.
Shots were 45-19 in favor of Concordia. The Tigers went 1-for-4 on the power play, while Concordia was 0-for-3.
Ellie Larson (Hutchinson, MN/Hutchinson Tigers) and
Sarah Beck (Linden, MI/Belle Tire) led RIT with two assists apiece.
Justine Larkin (Ottawa, Ontario/Ottawa Lady Senators),
Abby Davies (Ashton, Ontario/Ottawa Lady Senators),
Reaghan Pietrowski (Curtice, OH/Detroit Honeybaked) and
Maddie Dunham (Glenview, IL/Chicago Mission) each scored.
Terra Lanteigne (Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia/Charles P. Allen) played 49 minutes in net, making 28 saves.
Jessi O'Leary (Woodstock, New Brunswick/Notre Dame Hounds) made 12 stops for the Tigers.
Leonie Philbert, Marie-Pascale Bernier, Audrey Belzile, Daniela Gendron and Claudia Dubois each scored for Concordia. Caroline Gosling made 10 saves in net for the Stingers, while Madison Oakes made five saves.
Concordia took the lead on Philbert's goal off an assist from Alexandra Nikoli at 11:55 of the first period. The Tigers stormed back with goals from Larkin and Davies, taking a 2-1 lead on Davies goal at 13:01 of the first.
The Stingers tied the game late in the second period on a Bernier goal at 14:28. Audrey-Ann Rodrigue and Amelie Lemay had the assists on the goal.Â
RIT took a 3-2 lead early in the third period when Pietrowski scored at 4:01 of the period on assists from Larson and Farrand. Concordia answered back, tying the game at 3-3 on a Belzile goal at 6:38. Gendron made it two straight goals for Concordia, giving the Stingers a 4-3 lead on her goal at 9:45. Dunham tied the game on her goal at 12:43 of the third period.
Dubois tallied the game-winner at 3:26 of overtime on assists from Belxile and Olivia Atkinson.
RIT begins the regular season on Friday, Oct. 4, when the Tigers host University of Vermont at 6 p.m. at the Gene Polisseni Center.
