ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's swimming and diving team are in first place after the Session 1 at the 2019 Don Richards Invitational from Judson Pool Friday afternoon. The Tigers are in first with 388 points, while Skidmore College is second with 214 points.
RIT opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the team of
Phoebe Huey (Fort Collins, CO/Fossil Ridge),
Sydney Burgard (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster),
Sam Russell (Fredon, NJ/Kittatinny Regional) and
KhaVy Sangasy (Brockport, NY/Brockport) won the race in a time of 1:37.83.
The Tigers swept second through fourth places in the 200-yard IM. Sangasy finished second (2:09.79), Russell was third (2:11.72) and
Mililani Rosare (Campbell, CA/Westmont) came home fourth (2:12.27).
In the 50-yard freestyle, RIT swept places 2-5.
Elle Holland (East Concord, NY/Springville Griffith) was second (24.96 seconds), Huey was third (25:03 seconds), Burgard finished fourth (25.26 seconds),
Eleanor O'Gorman (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) was fifth (25.33 seconds) and
Gabby Guagliardo (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) finished sixth (25.61).
RIT capped off the session with a win in the 400-yard medley relay. The team of Rosare, Russell, Sangasy and O'Gorman won in a time of 4:00.85.
Action continues on Saturday, Dec. 7, in the Don Richards Invitational beginning at 9 a.m. from Judson Pool.
