Adam Brubacher (Elmira, Ontario/Powell River Kings) and sophomore forward
Kobe Walker (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Bobcats) notched a goal apiece, but it was visiting Guelph (Ont.) earning a 3-2 double-overtime victory over the Tigers in a men's ice hockey exhibition, Sunday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Guelph got on the board with 1:42 left in the first period. Mikkel Aagaard took a feed across the front of the Tiger crease and scored on a wrist shot with 1:42 left in the first period.
- RIT answered with 10:52 left in the second period. Sophomore forward Will Calverley's (Scarborough, Ontario/Chilliwack Chiefs) shot from the point was saved, but Walker scored on a short rebound into an open with the Gryphon goalie out of position to tie the score.
- Brubacher re-directed a shot from the point by junior defenseman Dan Willett (Bayville, NY/Bloomington Thunder) with 4:49 left in the second to put the Tigers on top, but Guelph notched a power-play tally with 1:41 left in regulation to force overtime.
- The score remained tied following a 5-on-5 first overtime. Skating 3-on-3 in the second overtime, Guelph's Todd Winder finished a left-wing rush with 1:07 on the clock for the deciding tally.
GAME NOTES
- RIT finished the game with a 41-27 advantage in shots on goal.
- All three Tiger goalies played a period. Junior Logan Drackett (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Canucks) totaled 13 first-period saves before junior Ian Andriano (Barrie, Ontario/Ottawa Jr. Senators) totaled six in the second period. Freshman Kolby Mathews (Coquitlam, British Columbia/Coquitlam Express) made three saves during the third and overtime periods.
