POTSDAM, NY -- The No. 3 RIT (18-12) women's volleyball team was defeated in three sets by No. 2 Ithaca College in the 2019 Liberty League Tournament semifinal Friday evening from Clarkson University. Scores were 18-25, 20-25 and 22-25.
"I am really proud of our fight against a really good team," said RIT head coach
Jim Lodes. "We battled this match just as we have pushed ourselves all season. I appreciate this team, their culture and the effort that we bring every day."
Katie Hobler (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) led RIT with 14 kills.
Taylor Higgins (Peru, NY/Peru) finished with eight kills and 14 digs, while
Kelly Waters (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and
Joelle Marston (Roxbury, NJ/Roxbury) each had five kills.
Maria Simonetti (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) finished with 10 digs and
Sasha Mekker (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) handed out 30 assists for the Tigers.
Reagan Stone led Ithaca with 16 kills, while Caitlyn Floyd had 33 assists for the Bombers, who will face Clarkson University in the Liberty League championship match Saturday.
