ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY – The RIT women's tennis team (10-6, 4-4 Liberty League) wrapped up Liberty League regular season play with an 8-1 win at Bard College (3-12, 0-8 Liberty League) at Stevenson Courts on Saturday afternoon.
RIT took all three doubles matches to start and all but one singles contest. The second doubles team of
Claire Casalnova (Mars, PA/Pine Richland) and
Kristen Zablonski (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) earned an 8-1 win at second doubles, while the third doubles duo of
Annie Steinbrink (Upper Dublin, PA/Upper Dublin) and
Maddy Price (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) secured an 8-2 win. The first doubles team of
Amelia Ying (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and
Shayna Ginster (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win.
RIT allowed a total of just 12 points in its five singles wins. Zablonski swept Bella Martinez at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-0 for win number 19 in 2017-18. Ying earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Anastasia Kachalova at first singles, while Casalnova equaled that score with a win at third singles. Steinbrink and
Julia Smolowitz (Marlborough, MA/Hudson) recorded identical 6-2, 6-2 wins to also score for RIT.
The Tigers will be in action in the Liberty League Championship Tournament, starting next Friday from the Reis Tennis Center on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. Opponent and match time will be revealed Sunday or Monday. Visit
