ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY – The RIT men's tennis team (7-10, 1-7 Liberty League) wrapped up the 2017-18 season by recording its first Liberty League victory of the season, 8-1 at Bard College (1-11, 0-8 Liberty League) on Saturday.
RIT took all three doubles matches to start and all but one singles contest. The second doubles squad of
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and
Nick Lim (West Caldwell, NJ/West Caldwell) rolled to an 8-0 win, while the third doubles duo of
Jacob Meyerson (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) and
Roger Peckham (Westlake, OH/Lake Ridge Academy) secured an 8-1 victory. At first doubles,
Jared Ingoglia (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex Regional) and
Patrick Mathews (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) found themselves down 6-3 before roaring back with five straight points to take the match, 8-6.
Mathews also defeated Zayd Normand at fifth singles, 6-0, 6-0, while Lynaugh nearly equaled that, winning 6-1, 6-0 over Nicholas George at second singles.
Mac Yang Li (Montreal, Quebec/IMG Academy),
Michael Peters (New Hope, PA/Holy Ghost Prep) and
David Trimmer (York, PA/Dallastown) also emerged victorious in singles play.
Today marked the final collegiate matches for Ingoglia and Lynaugh, both members of the Class of 2018.
