Baseball drops non-conference contest at St. John Fisher

PITTSFORD, NY – The RIT baseball team (8-9) had its two game winning streak snapped, falling 3-0 at St. John Fisher College (18-9) from sun-soaked Dugan Yard Friday afternoon.
 
St. John Fisher scored twice in the bottom of the second inning and once more in the fifth. Alec Teska was masterful on the mound, keeping the RIT offense off the board, allowing just four hits in 7 1/3 shutout innings. Jack Delaney allowed a walk and hjt over the final 1 2/3 innings for his first save.
 
Joey Mylott (Aurora, OH/Western Reserve Academy) was 2-for-3 with a double for the Tigers, while Patrick Mylott (Aurora, OH/Western Reserve Academy), Jason Schulz (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and Navada Waterman (Coudersport, PA/Coudersport) also singled.
 
Ben Clough (Tolland, CT/Tolland) earned the start for the Tigers and took the loss, allowing four hits and two runs over 2 2/3 innings. Michael Campbell (Honeoye Falls, NY/McQuaid Jesuit) pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, while Collin Reformat (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) allowed a run over two innings. Kyle Povlock (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and Bryce Jelinick pitched a scoreless inning apiece.
 
Ryan Simmons was 2-for-4 with a long double to left field, run scored and RBI for the Cardinals. Justin Graham added a pair of hits, while Ryan Brown and Jack Vivinetto added RBIs for Fisher.
 
The Cardinals got on the board twice in the second on consecutive sacrifice flies by Brown and Vivinetto. In the fifth inning, Simmons drove in a run with a bases loaded infield single.
 
RIT would bring the tying run to the plate with two outs in the top of the ninth inning, but could not push a run across.
 
St. John Fisher leads the all-time series between the two schools, 46-31.
 
RIT is right back in action on Saturday and Sunday with a pair of doubleheaders against Liberty League rival Rensselaer from Tiger Stadium. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1 p.m., while Sunday's twin-bill starts at 12 p.m.
