Women's lacrosse has second half rally fall short in loss to No. 18 SUNY Geneseo

GENESEO, NY- The RIT women's lacrosse team (2-3) fell to No. 18 SUNY Geneseo (5-0) by a score of 15-9 Wednesday afternoon from the College Stadium on the campus of Geneseo.
 
Alanna Fallone (Penfield, NY/Penfield) and Emily Livecchi (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) each netted three goals, Coletta Rigas finished with two goals and Steph Darrell (East Norhtport, NY/St. Anthony's) had one. Goalkeeper Rebekah Snitkoff (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) stopped a season-high 16 shots in defeat.
 
Shots were 42-20 in favor of Geneseo. RIT had eight draw controls and went 4 of 10 on free position shots.  Mallory Max, Hannah Marafioti and Hannah Millich had three goals apiece for Knights. Goalkeeper Tess McFadden stopped six shots in the win.
 
Geneseo's Hannah Marafioti scored the first goal of the game just over a minute in, Fallone responded 50 seconds later tying it at 1-1. The Knights responded with two straight goals to make it 3-1 until Rigas cut the Geneseo lead to just 3-2 with 21 minutes to go in the first half. Geneseo tallied four unanswered goals to put them ahead 7-2.
 
Livecchi notched RIT's third goal of the half with 9:32 to go making it 7-3. The Knights would respond with three consecutive goals to lead 10-3 at halftime.
 
Geneseo opened up the second half with three goals in the first five minutes to extend its lead to 13-3. Consecutive goals from Rigas and Fallone made it 13-5 Knights with 16:14 to go in the second half. Both teams would be scoreless for seven minutes before Darrell netted one off a free position with 9:11 left in the game to make it 13-6. Livecchi notched her second of the game and RIT's fourth goal in a row with 7:40 to play in the second making it 13-7.
 
Millich and Mallory Max scored consecutively for Geneseo making it 15-7 with 2:12 left to go in the half. LIvecchi and Fallone scored ten seconds apart in the final two minutes to round out the scoring.
 
RIT returns home Mar. 23-24 taking on Liberty League foes Union College Friday at 4 p.m. and Skidmore College Saturday at 2 p.m. on the RIT Turf Field.
