Men's soccer wins third straight match, 5-0 at Liberty League foe Bard

Tigers have won three straight in Liberty League play and are in the playoff hunt

ROCHESTER, NY –The RIT (7-5-1, 3-4-0 Liberty League) men's soccer team scored four goals in the first 20 minutes en route to a 5-0 win at Bard College (3-11-1, 0-7-0 Liberty League) Saturday afternoon. Simon Garno (Hilton, NY/Hilton) tallied two goals for the Tigers, who stay alive for a spot in the Liberty League Tournament. RIT has now won three straight contests, all against Liberty League foes.
 
Shots were 26-2 in favor of RIT, who fired 16 shots on target. Garno finished with two goals, while Nick Simone (Hilton, NY/Hilton) handed out a pair of assists. Anthony DeFeo (Rochester, NY/Hilton) had a goal and an assist, and Alec Jackson (Virginia Beach, VA/Landstown) and Brett Kaemmerlen (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) each scored a goal. Will Sokol (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville) got the start in net, playing the first 45 minutes and picking up the win for RIT. Spencer Raymond-Smith (Stow, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) played the second half, making one save.

Logan Leppo took the loss for the Raptors.

Garno gave RIT an early lead, tallying the first of his two goals in the fourth minute, scoring on a shot first-time off an assist from Simone. RIT took a 2-0 lead 1:03 later on Kaemmerlen's first collegiate goal in the fifth minute, scoring on a header off a service from DeFeo.

Garno scored his second of the game in the 10th minute to give RIT a 3-0 lead. He blasted a shot from 30-yards out that found the top right corner for his fourth goal of the season. DeFeo gave RIT a 4-0 lead on his goal off a feed from Simone in the 17th minute. Jackson added a late goal to make it a 5-0 final.
 
RIT returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 24 when the Tigers face Ithaca College at 3 p.m. in Ithaca, N.Y.
