WILKES-BARRE, PA – The RIT wrestling team (8-6) won two of three matches at the John Reese Duals hosted by Wilkes University on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers opened the day by defeating West Virginia University of Technology (3-8), 32-9 before falling to host Wilkes (17-4), 26-22. RIT rebounded by defeating University of Scranton (15-3), 27-20.
 
Senior Tory Cain (Ontario, NY/Wayne) (174 lbs.) and sophomores Isaiah Ocasio (Vineland, NJ/Vineland) (133 lbs.) and Dempsey King (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) (157 lbs.) all went 3-0 on the afternoon for the Tigers. Andrew Flanagan (Holley, NY/Holley) (125 lbs.) and Colby Hall (Deposit, NY/Deposit) (149 lbs.) were both 2-0, while Jake Sepor (Stafford, NY/Pavilion) (141 lbs.) and Nicholas Greenquist (Spring Lake, NJ/St. Rose) (184 lbs.) each finished 2-1.
 
The Tigers cruised to the opening win over West Virginia Institute of Technology, winning six of the nine contested matches and one by forfeit. Flanagan opened the day by winning 11-8 over Paul Gonzales, while Ocasio put up 22 points in a major decision win over Denis Robles. After Ryan Keefe (Charlotte, NC/Providence) won by forfeit at 141 lbs., Sepor earned an 11-3 win at 149 lbs., and King earned an 11-1 major decision victory. Cain recorded a pin in just 1:36, while Greenquist recorded a victory by technical fall.
 
In the loss to Wilkes, the Tigers fell behind 14-0 before attempting to mount a comeback. Hall for the Tigers on the board with a pin, followed by a 2-0 victory by Dempsey King (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford), cutting the deficit to 14-9. After a pin by Wilkes made it 20-9, Cain earned a 5-0 win and Greenquist earned a major decision victory, 14-1, to make the match score 20-16. Wilkes would put the match away with a win at 197 lbs., before Wyatt Morris (Eaton, NY/Morrisville-Eaton) earned a pin at 285 lbs. for the Tigers.
 
RIT stunned Scranton by jumping out to leads of 24-0 and 27-6 before hanging on. Flanagan won by forfeit, followed by 14-7 victory by Ocasio, pin by Sepor, 7-3 win for Hall, and pin for King. Cain would guarantee the victory for RIT with an 8-6 win over Zachary D'Apolito at 174 lbs.

RIT returns to action by competing in their final two regular season dual matches of the season, at Pennsylvania College of Technology on Friday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. and at Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference rival Oneonta State at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11.
