Women's Hockey falls in opening contest at Boston University

BOSTON, MA – The RIT women's hockey team (3-5-1) fell to Boston University (2-5-1) by a score of 5-1 Friday evening from Walter Brown Arena. Boston University scored three times in the first 5:46 to hand RIT its second straight loss.
 
Junior Brinna Dochniak (Marine on St. Croix, MN/Stillwater) scored the lone goal for RIT with 5:24 left in the second period with assists going to Mallory Rushton (Amherst, Nova Scotia/New Hampton Prep) and Christa Vuglar (Crystal Lake, IL/Chicago Mission). That cut the Boston University lead to 4-1.
 
Boston University's Reagan Rust scored two and a half minutes into the first period to put the Terrier's up one. The Terriers would score two more times in the next 3:14, as Victoria Back and Nina Rodgers tallied to make it 3-0.

Abby Cook would score on a power-play 20 seconds into the period to give Boston University a 4-0 lead.
 
With just less than five minutes remaining in the third period, Rebecca Leslie scored for the Terriers to complete the scoring.
 
Shots were 40-20 and face-offs were 29-24 both in favor of the Terriers. Jessi O'Leary (Woodstock, New Brunswick/Athol Murray) took the loss in net for the Tigers, stopping 35 shots. Corinne Schroeder got the win for the Terriers with 19 saves.
 
Tonight marked the first meeting between the two schools. RIT and Boston University meet again on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. in the Agganis Arena for game two of the series.
