Robert Aguilera named Liberty League Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

ROCHESTER, NY -- Freshman center Robert Aguilera (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) of the RIT men's basketball team, was named Liberty League Rookie of the Week on Monday, for the week ending Jan. 8, 2017. It is the first time Aguilera was honored by the league this season.

Aguilera helped RIT to a 2-1 record last week averaging 12.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game. Tuesday, Aguilera tallied 13 points and grabbed five rebounds ato go along with three blocks in a 73-72 loss to No. 4 University of Rochester. Friday, he tallied eight points, grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds and had four blocks in a 61-44 win at Vassar. Saturday, Aguilera scored a season-high 15 points to go along with six rebounds and three blocks in an 87-77 win at Bard.

Aguilera is second on the team in scoring, averaging 10.0 points per game, and leads the team averaging 6.2 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game.

Aguilera and the Tigers return to action on Friday, Jan. 13 when they host Skidmore College at 8 p.m. on the floor of Clark Gymnasium.
