ITHACA, NY – The RIT wrestling team (2-1) suffered its first dual match loss of the season, falling to No. 4 Ithaca College (1-0) by a score of 42-3 in Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference action from the Ben Light Gymnasium Wednesday evening.
RIT's lone win came at 174 lbs.
Joe Lupisella (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) defeated Nick Vogel, 7-3. Lupisella evens his record at 6-6 on the season, and is 2-1 in dual competitions. RIT's
Sam Weinger (Blooming Grove, NY/Washingtonville) and Ithaca's Jake O'Brien waged a strong battle to end the evening, with O'Brien rallying for the 3-2 decision.
Ithaca featured a pair of nationally-ranked wrestlers in James Kaishian and Carlos Toribio.
RIT returns to action on January 7, 2017 when they host the NY/PA Duals at Clark Gymnasium.
