ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (4-5) men's basketball team was defeated by the University of Rochester (7-4) by a score of 81-67 in non-conference action from The Palestra on Tuesday evening.
RIT shot 37.5 percent from the floor on 24-of-64 shooting. The Tigers went 9-of-29 from behind the arc, and were 10-of-23 from the foul line.
Kamron Davis (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham) led RIT with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
AJ Horde (Oak Park, MI/University of Detroit Jesuit),
Mitch Herman (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) and
Sheldon Clay (Detroit, MI/University of Detroit Jesuit) each scored 12 points. Horde grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out seven assists.
Mack Montague led Rochester with 20 points, while Jared Seltzer had 13 points and 17 rebounds. Sam Borst-Smith added 15 points, and Dylan Peretz tallied 14 points for the Yellowjackets.
RIT trailed 41-26 at the half, shooting 32.4 percent from the floor. Davis led the Tigers with eight points and five rebounds, while Horde added five points. The Tigers got to within nine points late in the second half, but no closer as Rochester made their free throws down the stretch, to hold on.
The Tigers scored 44 points in the paint, and tallied 15 points off of nine Rochester turnovers. RIT returns to action on Friday, Jan. 8 when they open up Liberty League play at Skidmore College. Opening tip is at 8 p.m.
