Josh Mitchell, Brady Norrish, and Jordan Ruby sweep Atlantic Hockey Conference Monthly honors

ROCHESTER, NY – Junior forward Josh Mitchell (Osoyoos, British Columbia/Alberni Valley Bulldogs), freshman defenseman Brady Norrish (Strongfield, Saskatchewan/Yorkton Terriers), and senior goaltender Jordan Ruby (Tavistock, Ontario/Wellington Dukes) swept Atlantic Hockey Conference monthly honors for March, 2015, as the league announced its monthly winners on Thursday, March 16.
 
All three men were vital in leading the Tigers (20-15-5) to the 2015 Atlantic Hockey Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the second time at the Division I level.
 
Mitchell, the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Month, led the Tigers with 10 points in six postseason games on four goals and six assists in March. On March 13, Mitchell scored the game-winning goal early in the third period to break a 1-1 tie and lift RIT to a 2-1 win over Air Force in game one of the Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinals. The next night, he tied a career high with four points on a goal and three assists and was plus-4, as RIT eliminated Air Force from the postseason with a 7-3 win.
 
In the Atlantic Hockey Championship vs. Mercyhurst on March 21, Mitchell scored the game-winning goal and added two assists in a 5-1 win. Mitchell scored the game-winning goal, breaking a 1-1 tie late in the third period and added an assist in RIT's 2-1 win over No. 1 Minnesota State in the NCAA Midwest Regional Semifinal. He was named to the Midwest Regional Semifinal All-Tournament Team. Mitchell finished the season among the national leaders with 52 points on 16 goals and a RIT Division I team record 36 assists. He was also plus-27 on the season.
 
Norrish, the Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Month, led all RIT defensemen with six assists. On March 13, Norrish had an assist in RIT's 2-1 win over Air Force in game one of the Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinals. The next night, he set a career high with three assists and was plus-3, as RIT eliminated Air Force from the postseason with a 7-3 win. In the Atlantic Hockey Championship vs. Mercyhurst on March 21, Norrish added two assists and was plus-2 in a 5-1 win. Norrish, who was named to the Atlantic Hockey Championship All-Tournament Team, finished the season with 22 points on four goals and 18 assists. He was also plus-18 on the season.
 
Ruby, the Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Month, enjoyed an excellent postseason for RIT, going 5-1-0 with a 1.67 goals against average and .941 save percentage. He opened the month by making a 25 saves on 26 shots in a 2-1 win over Air Force in game one of the Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinals. After stopping 24 shots in a 7-3 win in game two, Ruby stopped 27 shots in the AHC Semifinal against Canisius, a 2-1 win on March 20. Ruby equaled that performance in the AHC Championship win over Mercyhurst the next night in a 5-1 victory. On March 28, Ruby made 33 saves and was named the NCAA Hockey First Star of the night in RIT's 2-1 win over top-ranked Minnesota State in the NCAA Midwest Regional Semifinal. Ruby finished his excellent senior season 11-8-4 with a 2.10 goals against average and .924 save percentage.
