No. 2 RIT men's lacrosse cruises to 24-1 win over SUNY Geneseo

ROCHESTER, NY -- The No. 2 RIT men's lacrosse team improved to 10-0 overall with an impressive 24-1 win over SUNY Geneseo (4-4) on Wednesday afternoon on RIT's Turf Field. With the win, the Tigers are now unbeaten in their last 34 regular season games.

Shots were 50-20 in favor of the Tigers, while RIT held a 54-23 ground ball edge, and cleared the ball 23-of-24 times. In all, 13 different Tigers scored at least one goal, while 19 players tallied at least one point. Ryan Lee (Sharon, Ontario/The Hill Academy) led the Tigers with five points on two goals and three assists. Kyle Sterzin (Fairport, NY/Fairport) added four points on three goals and an assist, while Chad Levick (Newmarket, Ontario/The Hill Academy) scored three goals and Kyle Aquin (Hamilton, Ontario/St. Jean De Brebeuf) dished out three assists. Eddie Kiesa (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt), JD Hall (Centennial, CO/Arapahoe), Mikey Gulasey (Medina, OH/Western Reserve Academy), Zack Thompson (Orangeville, Ontario/Culver Academy), John Hill (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and Allister Warren (Toronto, Ontario/Malvern Collegiate Institute) each had a pair of goals.

Pat Johnston (Norwell, MA/Norwell) got the win in net, making five saves in 25:30 minutes of action. Jarryd Lee (Melbourne, Australia/St. Leonards) played 22 minutes and made six saves, while Jon Berg (Chester, NJ/Mendham) made two saves. Nick Nesbitt (Burlington, Ontario/Salisbuury School) played the final 4:50 for the Tigers and did not allow a goal. Jake Quay (Latham, NY/Shaker) was 10-of-15 from the face-off "X", while Steven Ricci (Rochester, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) went 4-of-5. Phil Spiridigloizzi (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) was 5-of-7 with two ground balls.

Steven Cregan scored Geneseo's lone goal, while Steve Aziz had the assist. Michael Yehl got the start in net for the Knights, making five saves. Jared Carrino played the second half, making seven saves.

RIT exploded for 11 goals in the first quarter and never looked back. The Tigers led 17-1 at halftime, 20-1 after the third quarter and cruised home with four goals in the fourth quarter for the 24-1 win.

RIT opened the game by scoring the first 16 goals. The Knights did not score until there was 1:41 left in the second quarter. Kiesa, Warren and Lee each had two goals in the first quarter, while Aquin had a pair of assists. Levick scored all three of his goals in the second quarter to help the Tigers take a commanding lead into halftime.

Drew Tosaya (Kenmore, WA/Inglemoor), Alex Bodin (Coquitlam, British Columbia/Dr. Charles Best), and Gulasey each scored for RIT in the third quarter, while Josh Harris (St. Catharines, Ontario/Sir Winston Churchill), Garrett Eddy (Bowmanville, Ontario/St. Stephens) and John Hill (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) all had assists. Josh Kemp (Couquitlam, British Columbia/Centennial), Gulasey and Hill all scored in the fourth quarter. Hill tallied twice giving him five goals on the season.
 
Matt Hossack (Port Perry, Ontario/Port Perry) led RIT with four caused turnovers and had three ground balls and an assist. Gillies, Tosaya, Anthony Contento (Homer, NY/Homer), Bodin, Trevor Smyth (Orangeville, Ontario/The Kiski School) and Harris each had a caused turnover for RIT. Gillies, Quay and Harris each had five ground balls for the Tigers who have won six straight over the Knights.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, hosting Liberty League foe Rensselaer at 1 p.m. on RIT's Turf Field.
