ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's hockey team plays a home-and-home series against Colgate University of the ECAC on Friday, Nov. 13 and Saturday, Nov. 14. Friday's contest from the Gene Polisseni Center begins at 7 p.m., while Saturday's contest from Starr Rink at Colgate starts at 3 p.m.
RIT dropped a pair of home contests over the weekend against College Hockey America foe Robert Morris, falling 4-0 on Friday and 6-3 on Saturday. On Saturday,
Kandice Sheriff (Brampton, Ontario),
Reagan Rust (McKinney, TX/Moon Area), and
Taylor Thurston (Kanata, Ontario/All Saints Catholic) scored for the Tigers, while
Mallory Rushton (Amherst, Nova Scotia/New Hampton Prep) added two assists. The Tigers enter the weekend with a 3-8-0 record and are 0-5-0 in CHA play.
Carly Payerl (Kitchener, Ontario/Resurrection Catholic),
Jess Paton (Woodstock, Ontario/Waterloo K-W Rangers), and
Taylor Thurston (Kanata, Ontario/All Saints Catholic) are tied for the team lead in scoring with six points apiece. Payerl and
Cassie Clayton (Pickering, Ontario/PEAC School) lead the way with three goals each, while Thurston has five assists. In goal,
Brooke Stoddart (Elmvale, Ontario/Elmvale) is 2-3-0 with a 3.79 goals against average and an .869 save percentage, while
Jenna de Jonge (Abbotsford, British Columbia/George Elliot) is 1-4-0 with a 4.38 goals against average and an .872 save percentage
Colgate enters the weekend with a 4-2-4 overall record and is 0-1-3 in ECAC play. Last weekend, the Raiders went 0-1-1, skating to a scoreless draw against No. 7 Quinnipiac, and falling No. 10 Princeton on Saturday. Freshman Shae Labbe leads Colgate in scoring with 10 points on six goals and four assists. Six different Raiders have at least eight points, while Olivia Zafutio leads the squad with eight assists. Colgate is out-scoring its opponents, 33-23 this season. In goal, Ashlynne Rando is 3-2-3 with a 2.09 goals against average and .921 save percentage.
RIT is 14-5-1 all-time against Colgate, 1-3-0 in the Division I era. The two teams last met in 2013-14, splitting a two-game series in Rochester, in which the Tigers eked out a 2-0 win at the Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex on Oct. 18, 2013, and Colgate won 2-1 in overtime at Ritter Arena the next night.
Including this weekend, RIT plays eight of its next nine games at the Gene Polisseni Center.
